T. Richardson Miner, Jr. Scholarship Awarded!

The NEAHP Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the 2007 winner of the T. Richardson Miner scholarship is Elizabeth Zima.  Elizabeth is Planned and Special Gifts Officer in the department of Philanthropy at Kent Hospital Foundation in Warwick, RI.

In March of 2006, Elizabeth attended the Primer session of the NEAHP conference in Chatham during her vacation from work, and at her own expense.  She found marvelous energy from the faculty and “newcomers” to the field.  Elizabeth said in her application, “I was struck by knowing that these people were really going to make a difference in healthcare.”  Less than a year later, Elizabeth was hired at Kent Hospital where she is building and growing the Planned and Major gifts program.  “I feel that the quality and depth of information I can receive in Madison is without equal.” 

We wish Elizabeth luck during her week at Madison!

This annual scholarship award funds the full cost of tuition and housing for the recipient’s attendance at The AHP Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy held each year for one week in July at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin.  Applicants must be an active member of NEAHP and have no more than five years experience in health care fund raising.
