Major Gifts Officer for ECHN Community

Eastern Connecticut Health Network Community HealthCare Foundation ,
based in Manchester, CT,
seeks a Major Gifts Officer to lead an organized and effective program
of major donor prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and
stewardship strategies.
ECHN is a not-for-profit community-based healthcare system that serves
residents of eastern
Connecticut, offering a full range of inpatient
and outpatient services, from wellness to hospital care, from prevention
to early detection, from newborn care to geriatric care. ECHN includes:
Manchester
Memorial
Hospital;
Rockville General Hospital; Woodlake at Tolland, a rehabilitation
facility; Women’s Center for Wellness, located in South Windsor; and Glastonbury Wellness Center,
where both fitness and medical services are provided. Through a variety
of partnerships and affiliations, ECHN is able to offer first class
health services to the communities it serves. ECHN has 2,400 employees.
ECHN Community HealthCare Foundation is building a dynamic team of
development officers and is currently in a growth cycle. Donations in
2007 totaled over $3-million. The staff currently numbers six, plus two
key positions that are currently vacant. The Major Gifts Officer is a
key position which offers significant opportunities for growth and
advancement. The successful candidate could move into a Director’s role
within five years if strategic goals for major gifts and planned giving
are realized.
This is a new Foundation position reporting to the Vice President of
Development and the successful candidate will work with other Foundation
staff, administrative and medical personnel and trustees to build and
expand a coordinated, full-service major gifts and planned giving
program. The Major Gifts Officer will be assigned a portfolio of rated
major gift prospects that require immediate cultivation, leading to
solicitations at levels of $25,000 and above. The Foundation has a list
of projects requiring immediate support totaling $1.9-million with
one-third of that amount currently committed.
The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for the overall development
and implementation of a Major Gifts and Planned Giving plan for the
Foundation. Areas of responsibility include donor identification,
cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; volunteer management; program
development, planning and evaluation; policy recommendation and
administration; personnel and fiscal management; and public relations.
The ideal candidate will have 5-years of major gifts fundraising
experience and is required to have a Bachelor’s degree.
